I have an ID column and an html column. What I'd like is to hide the html column but have my report hyperlink the ID column using the html column as a map. In the end, I hope that clicking the ID on the published report, will take viewers to the url for that ID.
Is that doable?
If so, can it be explaned in simple terms since I am fairly new to Power BI?
Thank you,
Sarah
I think I figured it out myself! It would not link to a numeric field. But when I chose to link the title field to the URL field, it worked!
I have a URL colum called OrigID and I've followed conditional formatting instructions to a T but my ID column is still not a hyperlink.
My OrigID column is but that is a long ugly url. I want just the ID hyperlinked and Ideally would like to hide or renive the OrigID from the visual.
I've folowed the instructions above and here.
First you create hyperlinks using concat() dax function in your table using add new column. If it works then you can add in formatting pane URL icon to other columes.
I did find the conditional formatting for the ID field and I chose the "OrigID" field which contains my urls.
I filled it out as follows, but as far as I can tell, my IDs are not hyperlinked.
@Mkarwa-123 I sort of figured it out. On some tabs I am able to hyperlink the titles based on another column with the URLS, but in some I am not. Oddly, when I try to add conditional URL formatting to the title on those tabs which are not working, a "total" row is added at the bottom without my consent. I have to go the visualization paintbrush and manually turn that back off. One one of them, I was able to hyperlink the ID, but not the title. What is preventing this column from being hyperlinked in some cases even though the conditional formatting is the same on all tabs and every tab is using the same data?
