CDS Datavs display column values do not show when you hide the corresponding integer values 'choice'

The issue is that display column values were not showing when importing data from CDS/ Dataverse. For those not familiar with the CDS tables, each 'choice' (a lookup) has an integer value and a display value.

e.g.

cr2ee_recommendationstatus = 4921700000

cr2ee_recommendationstatus_display = "Open"

By the time I'd cleaned up my query, and the data was how I wanted it, I could see the display values fine (in Power Query) but once I loaded the data to the desktop it would omit the value. They just show as a blank column.

Finally, I realised that if I leave in the corresponding integer values with the display values, the display values will show up in desktop (model view), but if I hide ('remove other columns') in power query, the display value won't show. It's like there is some mini invisible merge between the integer values and their corresponding display values.

This issue has been driving me mad, I finally got to the route of the issue on a support call with MS, but I'm posting here in case anyone else has the same issue and perhaps the good folks at MS will find a fix for it.

    Hi, Anonymous

    Could you please explain to us with some screenshots or steps in Power Query? Do mask sensitive data before uploading. Thanks.

    Best Regards
