Azure DevOps OData Feed Suddenly Failing in Power BI with ResourceAccessForbiddenException
Hi Everyone,
Our Power BI reports connected to Azure DevOps Analytics OData feeds were working correctly until around 3 days ago, and suddenly started failing.
Originally we were using a v3 OData preview endpoint, and after the issue started we migrated to a v4 Analytics endpoint.
The Analytics endpoint works correctly in browser and returns metadata successfully.
However, Power BI Desktop still fails during refresh/load with the following errors:
Error 1:
OLE DB or ODBC error: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E4E
Error 2:
Microsoft.Mashup.Engine.Interface.ResourceAccessForbiddenException
Affected tables:
- WorkItems
- WorkItemLinks
Things already attempted:
- Migrated from v3 to v4 endpoint
- Cleared Power BI cache
- Removed all data source permissions
- Reauthenticated using Organizational Account
- Recreated queries from scratch
- Restarted Power BI Desktop
- Tested endpoint directly in browser successfully
- Tried both org-level and project-level endpoints
Sample query used:
let
Source = OData.Feed(
"https://analytics.dev.azure.com/<organization>/_odata/v3.0-preview/",
null,
[Implementation="2.0"]
)
in
Source
The issue started suddenly after working for months without problems.
Has anyone experienced recent Azure DevOps Analytics/OData changes or permission-related issues causing this?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi yeshwanthi_vadd,
Thank you for posting your query in the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.As you have already tried several troubleshooting steps.Please also try testing once with the supported stable endpoint v2.0 instead of the preview versions.
Also, please verify that the account used in Power BI has the required Azure DevOps Analytics permissions such as project access, appropriate access level, and View analytics permission.
Please refer the following Official Microsoft documentations:

Are you working with just work items in Azure DevOps?
If so, you might be better off working with analytics Views:
