Adding blanc column in power query for future notes
Hello everyone,
I have a power query report, for which I need to add few empty columns so I can manually add notes later on excell.
The data source is an excell file .
I tried two methods and both did not work.
First method
I added custom columns in Power Query , and added my comments on these columns in excell, However when refresh the query , the commnets on the "Notes columns" disapear,
It looks Like the empty columns from Power Query override the data that I enetered.
Second method
I removed the notes columns from power query, (saved and closed), and added "my notes columns" the excell table .
added my notes.
I noticed when I refresh the query that my comments on the "notes columns" do not match the data that I enetered the comments for .
for example: I added a comment on cell M22 for the employee John, after I refresh the same comments moves to aother employees row .
I wonder , If there is a different way to add these columns in power query and still have the ability to add and keep my comments .

You need to add the placeholder columns in Excel. If you add columns in Power Query, then add columns in Excel, the added columns in PQ will not care. They will get added again, and may cause naming conflicts.
Other than that I'd need to see some screenshots of the issue.
