Academic Year

I work in a school and I have daily attendance data (including a date column) in a table going back to 2017.

I want to add a column that shows the academic year for each record.

E.g. a date between 01/09/2020 and 31/08/2021 would be "2020-2021"

      a date between 01/09/2021 and 31/08/2022 would be "2021-2022"

Ok, worked out a solution but possibly not the neatest. I created a table with every possible date with the academic table in another column the created a relationship to the date column.

It sounds like you have reinvented the date table.  Nothing wrong with that.  Hopefully your solution is working for you.  Have a look on the right of this web page at the 'Recommendations' section, there are some solved posts for academic year
