1899-12-31

Hi. I am new to Power BI and I have imported data from Excel. The Excel file has a time column which is properly formatted as hh:mm. On importing into Power BI each time slot is displayed with the following date at its start 1899-12-31. For example: 1899-12-31 09:00:00AM. How do I prevent this from happenning? I did merge the time column with the date column to see if the problem willl disappear but the 1899-12-31 date remains in the merged column. Can anybode help please?

Hi @Gerhard1957,

Based on my test, if we format column cell as time value in Excel, after we import data from Excel to Power BI Desktop, the data type will be changed to Date/Time automatically. See:

In your scenario, you can change the data type of this column to Time and set its format.

OK. I found a work-around by splitting the time column and then deleting the 1899-12-31 column. However, I would still like to prevent the problem if possible.
