New custom column from SharePoint document list

Hello.  I was able to generate an integrated Power BI report from our current SharePoint document list.  However we want to create a slicer with customized values from specific column(s).  Even in the edit mode, I don't seem to see a new column/measure option.  Is creating a new column currently not supported?
