Power BI September 2026 Feature Summary
There has been an update released 10/7/2026 in version: 2.158.1304.0 at
Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center
Is there any information what the update is about, has for example the Azure Map issue been solved ?.
Thanks for raising this akejoh,
On a directly related note, I also have an additional query for MS team: Is there a reason MS has stopped updating the change log that lists the pertinent points for these QFE releases/patches (such as the latest that akejoh mentions above)?
akejoh, for reference, please see this link:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-change-log?utm_source=chatgpt.com
Ordinarily, a QFE release like this would eventually be listed here, but for some reason this page hasn't been updated since March of this year.
QFE change log as of Oct 8, 2026
By comparison, the main release change log is still updated periodically (although it's now lagging by at least a month):
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-latest-update-archive?tabs=powerbi-desktop
The 'bug fixes and improvements' link is the same QFE change log shown earlier.
And my own notes highlighting the currently missing QFE releases from the change log:
There may be some other QFE's I've missed, but these are the updates to PBI desktop I have logged.

Thank you D_M_2 for adding the details about missing updates in the Change Log.
We raised a support ticket in June 2026 regarding the fact that Microsoft stopped updating the Change Log and got this reply regarding how Microsoft inform about releases and updates:- Monthly feature releases are documented through the “What’s New” blogs.
- The dedicated Desktop change log is intended for QFE-classified fixes/builds only.
- Intermediate servicing builds can still include fixes/improvements without necessarily being classified or documented as QFE
According to Microsoft it has not been any updates in Power BI Desktop that is "QFE-classified" since March 2026, hence the Change Log has not been updated.
Exactly what "QFE-classified" refers to was not shared by Microsoft. This mean that all "within a version updates" since March 2026 has been classified as "Intermediate servicing builds" by Microsoft.
We has a routine that we every morning check which version that is available at Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center but the lack of information make it impossible to judge whether the current version is any good and what that has been changed from the prior version.

Thanks for the info akejoh, I wasn't aware of this decision.
I also follow the same practice of checking every day to see if a new build on the 'Advanced download' page is available, but it sounds like this new 'QFE-classified' notion was introduced this year only, since previously pretty much every interim release (or QFE) was included, so would be odd if suddenly none of them qualify for all this time, but at least now there's an explanation. Thanks again.
