issues cancelling pipelines

Advocate IIII faced the same issue today. Only other information I can give is that the pipeline I couldn't cancel is the child pipeline. I had cancelled the outer pipeline (2 layers out) but when I check into each layer, I found that the inner child layer was still running and when I tried to cancel it, it just throws a pop up stating that action had failed but when I clicked on "more details" it just shows "unknown"...
