Encountered this error, and figured out the solution, so I thought I'd post.
CopyJob execution failed, error message received from failing copyjob - 'Job failed to start: unable to acquire user token'
Scenario;
Using a scheduled, parent Fabric Data Pipeline to invoke a CopyJob and then a Notebook
Steps;
1. CopyJob created, this required a new connection for the source database. In this instance I used an Organisation Account.
2. Pipeline created. This required a new connection for the pipeline to use when invoking the CopyJob. In this instance I used a Service Principal.
3. Ran the pipeline interactively, which failed with the error above.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The solution was to;
- go to Manage Connections and Gateways,
- find the source database connection
- select Manage Users
- grant User permissions to the Service Principal
Simple.
