Announcing Self Service User Groups for the Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365 Communities

Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365 User Groups are community-led, Microsoft supported, offering local user groups around the world an environment for networking, learning new skills, collaborating on projects, and sharing expertise. This new online user group experience connects local user group leaders and members with each other, Microsoft experts, and the broader global technical community. We are pleased to announce new Self Service User Group features for the new Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365 User Groups effective October 21, 2021.

• Group creation for all including, editing, and preview before submitting for approval
• Group management for user group leaders
• Add resource links to groups and events
• Reassign user group leader role to a new leader
• Leverage rich text editor for group and event descriptions (Dynamics 365 currently)

In August 2021 we released event management for user group leaders including, editing, and preview before submitting for approval. We also released the ability for user group leaders to message all their members.

Digital Transformation Platform (DTP) Community Success team launched the first party user group experience public preview in April 2021 and are excited to see the response around the world. Our team will continue to roll out new features, best practices, and programs to support the tireless efforts of user group leaders and members to connect, share best practices, and empower each other.

What are the benefits of the Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365 User Group Experience? As part of the program, user groups receive support, inspiration, and a deeper connection to the community. In addition, user groups receive:

• Monthly user group leader calls connecting leaders and members with other evangelists and Microsoft experts to share best practices and learn from other community leaders
• Access to exclusive community space for user group leaders on the Community Tenant (a dedicated free Office 365 tenant and licenses for leaders to host their user groups and meetings) in partnership with the Customer Advocacy Group in Microsoft Teams Engineering
• Resources and tools (Virtual event playbook and User group leader playbook) created by technical experts, designed to support user group leaders and members
• Access to and support from a local Microsoft employee volunteer (aka Microsoft Community Citizen)
• Our user group experience advisory board has been providing feedback and guidance to our community success team since our private preview in December 2020, and they continue to guide our effort on this project. The board consists of Business Applications Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs), user group leaders and influencers
