RLS in Mobile App Issue

I use Power BI Embedded and the RLS roles work perfectly in the embedded reports, but when the specific Pro users access them via Mobile App, this error message appears. It used to work last year, but now it doesn't. In the RLS DAX code, the Pro users emails are explicitly declared in the role to have full access to the data.

Has anybody else experienced something like this? What can I do?

hey @gabee ,

When the user opens the same report in Power BI web broswer, does the user able to see the report or does the user get the same error?

Thanks, Maya

Hey, Maya. Thank you for the response.

It doesn't work in the web browser as well. It only works if I grant them access as Contributors, which is not the ideal cenario because they shouldn't be able to edit or download the files.

I opened a ticket yesterday and I spent 1:30 hour with the support without any answers. They gave me link to Microsoft Fabric Ideas to post the issue and see if someone fixes the problem. I think it might be a bug or something like that, because it used to work and suddenly it doesn't.

I suggest to post this issue in the service forum, and see if there was a change in behavior.

The Power BI Mobile apps all access checks as the Power BI Service.

Thanks Maya

Hi @gabee ,

Thanks for your time.

Here're some helpful steps you can try to solve this issue:

1.Make sure that the Power BI Mobile App is updated to the latest version.

2.Ensure that the Pro users have the correct permissions. Sometimes, changes in permissions can affect RLS.

3.Double-check the RLS settings in your Power BI service or check the settings by downloading the report to desktop and then republish it. Ensure that the DAX code and email declarations are correct and haven't been altered.

4.If you're using an token, check whether the token has expired and whether it needs to be updated.

Thank you for the response, Stephen.
But yes, everything is neat! It used to work before and out of a sudden it just stopped.
The DAX code explicits the emails of the users and they are members of the premium workspace as viewers, since 2023 they've been accessing the reports via Power BI Service in the app and browser.
