Connect to a Server in Power BI Mobile, is HTTPS mandatory or can I use HTTP.

Hello everyone,

I am trying to connect to "Connect to Server" on the Power Bi Mobile app on my iPhone, but when I type in the address (http://addressname/ReportsPB is the format) and try to connect, it shows the following error:

If i try connect to the same address through a browser I can reach it and browse the folders.

We are wondering if the problem might be that we are using HTTP instead of HTTPS however on Microsoft support: Enable a report server for Power BI Mobile access - SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) | Microsoft... it is only said that is Recommended and not Mandatory to have an HTTPS link.

Is that true? What can the error be then?

Thanks for the help

-Giovanni

HI @giovannibalzi,

If you use the same service address on the mobile web browser, did this works? Have you tried to use the accurately server Ip and port instead of the server name? AFAIK, sometime these two methods not all worked on the same device.

Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng

Hello @Anonymous ,

Correct, if I use the same address on the browser (Safari), it works.

I also tried to use the IP, in the format http://ipaddress/ReportsPB, and this time it goes in timeout and shows a different error:
