need to connect (local) Power BI, through On-premises data gateway (cloud), to MS SQL server (on bussiness server) I managed to connect Cloud Power BI to bussiness SQL server through Data Gateway, but when i try to do the same on my laptops using my power platform credentials, ssl error appears DataSource.Error: Microsoft SQL: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. Hi Community, I'm reaching out regarding an issue I've encountered while connecting Power BI to Snowflake through an ODBC connection. Specifically, I am fetching data from a Snowflake Stored Procedure. The problem arises when I attempt to publish the report and schedule a data refresh from the Semantic Model within the Power BI Workspace. Unfortunately, I've noticed that both the "Refresh" option and the "Data Source Credential" options are faded out for me, preventing me from configuring the refresh settings. I'm uncertain why these options are unavailable, and I'm eager to resolve this issue promptly. If anyone has encountered a similar situation or has any insights into troubleshooting this problem, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

When setting the gateway connections for a dataset in the settings page for a dataset with both on-premises and cloud data sources (e.g. dataflows), the Apply button remains greyed out if the Personal Cloud Connection option is selected before the gateway information has finished loading. For cloud only datasets, the apply button is not enabled until the ‘use an on-premises data source or VNet gateway' switch is turned off.

I am accessing one SQL Server DB using direct query. This report works fine for varying lengths of time but then stops working with the error AN EXCEPTIONS OCCURRED DUE TO AN ON PREMISE SERVICE ISSUE. We checked if there was an SQL activity (backups etc.) going on to interrupt it but none. We run a subscription report to track when it fails and there is no consistency. When we refresh the report it usually starts working again, sometime we have to go and refresh the connections or on premise gateway. Any ideas?

I am getting extra key phrases from the AIFunctions and all runs well on Power BI desktop. Hello, I have a report that uses many data resources from powerbi datasets, sql server and sap business warehouse application server. In the desktop mode, all visuals are working however in the app it does not work. In the gateway section, I connect my data to powerbi datasets with personal cloud connections and select gateway connection for my computer and then click apply. However, it always says "Failed to use the selected gateway. Please make sure the gateway is up and running and try again". I use this gateway while updating other apps and it works. When I only use powerbi datasets in my report, it works but when I add any other sources it fails. I don't understand why this is happening? Can someone help me?

I have a Power BI report which I triggered refresh at 2:54PM and while refreshing, schedule refresh kick in at 3:04PM. Then I saw 2 records showing "in progress" and never gets ended. Try canceled both and refresh but the refresh never gets complete again. I try published the report to another workspace and refresh no issue and therefore cancel this refresh and publish again the report to this workspace and triggered refresh but same issue - it never gets completed. I wanted to log an issue to Microsoft but then the page doesn't allow me to go through. Can the team fix and improve this please?

Since the Power BI Feb 2024 release, all of the reports in our workspaces have had this SSL error: "The server name provided does not match the server name on the SQL Server SSL certificate ... " Everything was working fine and then all of a sudden this error showed up across our workspaces Some notes and highlights: We use Azure sql databases No credentials were changed before this error occured and none have changed since I have double checked the credentials and the server names match both in the desktop and in the service The error occurs both on desktop and in the service We connect through a sql privatelink (servername.privatelink.database.windows.net) and use a VNET data gateway That gateway has not changed We tried disconnecting from the VNET data gateway and using an on-prem gateway, no luck connecting either We can connect to our Azure sql dbs with any other method directly in SSMS through excel In web apps we use Any idea what could be going on? Thank you!

Hi there, we upgraded our on-prem gateway to the newest version. I have created a test Data Flow Gen 2 to check if it works. Hello there, I have just started using Fabric and what I want to do is import different tables from different countries. Each has their own on-prem gateway and connection. I started with one country and it worked 100%, but the other country it fails. I checked to see whether the gateway is up to date and they both are on the same version. When I publish the Data Flow Gen 2 it gives this error: What can I do?

After installing the January 2024 Power BI On-Premise Gateway v 3000.202.16 and logging in successfully with my email address I get this error “The profile for this user is a temporary profile” and I cannot proceed any further due to this error. The solution is to change the user account under which the service runs BUT I've never had to do this before, so why now? This is the gateway's service account " NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService " is being flagged as a "temporary account". I checked for this "profile" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ BUT it doesn't exist. Full text of error One or more errors occurred. Error generating an asymmetric key. Windows Server 2019. I recommend that Microsoft releases a registry cleaner exe to wipe all files and all traces of the gateway to prepare for a perfectly clean installation. The application clearly doesn't have much budget behind it because it's frought with issues (literally all over the internet). BTW, if you try to login to the Power BI on-premises gateway with your email address and you get the error "Network request returned unexpected error." try disabling TLS 1.3 in the registry. This worked perfectly for me, just set Enabled dword to 0, for both Client and Server folders located here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.3

Error for Power BI Auto Refresh on the web: I can connect to Azure DevOps data and work from the Power BI desktop app and can refresh the data from Azure DevOps just fine. After publishing the report to the Power BI workspace (web) We cannot set a refresh schedule and get the following error: "Unable to determine the data source due to unknown functions. When custom connectors are used, the error can happen if gateway doesn't have the extension enabled. Details: Query contains unknown function name: AzureDevOpsServer.AnalyticsViews. Data source for Query1" "You can't schedule refresh for this dataset because the following data sources currently don't support refresh: Data source for Query1" -We are using a personal access token to connect to the dataset. -In the Power BI desktop app we chose the "Azure DepOps Server (Boards Only)" I don't think that Azure DevOps needs a gateway as I have created reports before and never needed to set one up unless this is a different gateway that's external. Is this an issue within Azure DevOps that we need to fix or is this something on the Power BI side? Hi, My sheduled refresh started failing, after I published a new versions that used the Merge Query to add 3 columns from a SQL database table, for wich I already have a gateway and that table has worked for the last two years so can't be a gateway issue. I merged the columns from a SQL table (wich uses the Import data option), to the table that comes from an Excel spreadsheet in SharePoint Online (called sd_ClientSurveyResults). Now I keep getting this error when it tries to refresh: {"error":{"code":"Premium_ASWL_Error","pbi.error":{"code":"Premium_ASWL_Error","parameters":{},"details":[{"code":"Premium_ASWL_Error_Details_Label","detail":{"type":1,"value":"Cloud data source refresh is not allowed in gateway setting."}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: sd_ClientSurveyResults. No gateway is needed when using SharePoint Online or Excel Online and the SQL database does have a gateway that works so not sure why this is happing.
