Why is the On Demand Refresh faster than Schedule Refresh

Hi Team,

 

We have been noticing that when we hit Refresh now on the dashbaords , it finishes fast like within 2 minutes vs a scheduled Refresh takes about 14 minutes .

 

What is the difference between these as they should have more or less the same time

Hi @rajesh2001,

 

Do all schedule refresh spend more time than on-demand refresh? Please check all refresh records on the Refresh History.

Its happening for all the schedule refresh.

WHile this is a couple months old we are also seeing a huge difference between manual refresh and scheduled refresh. Our manual refresh takes 45 seconds where as our scheduled refresh is taking 14 min. 

 

Ideas?

Same issue here too... 1 minute at on demand refresh and something about 7-8 minutes on schedule.

Hi Guys, have the same issue. On demand = 30 seconds. On schedule = 11 minutes.

 

Architecture: SQL Server on AWS RDS as a data source, Power BI Gateway on VM on AWS.

It's the same issue in our organization. We have many datasets connecting to an on-premises SQL Server with the gateway running on the same server. If I trigger a manual refresh on any dataset it will complete in less than 10 seconds, but the scheduled refreshes always take 11 minutes or more.

Same issue here! 

On demande = 40 seconds, On Scheduled= 17minutes.

Datasource: SQL Server.
