Unexpected error: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send

Hi Power Bi community.

I´m aware that this is a known topic by Microsoft support. But I wanted to know if you have solved this problem by your own or if there are any updates from Official Technical Support.

The general statement of the problem is:

"I´m creating data sources from Sharepoint Folder or ODATA Sources and I make the correct connections, but suddenly when I refresh the data or after a few days a problem appears: Unexpected error: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send; followed by a huge amount of text. The main problem here is that there is no typing error, null characters or error rows, it is a pure connection issue that you cannot fix by your own"

Solutions that I have tried:

- Uninstall and Install Power Bi Desktop (several times).

- Installing the Web Version of Power Bi Desktop (avoiding the Microsoft Store Version)

- Cleaning the Data Cache in Power Bi Options and Settings.

- Deleting the whole Query and creating a new one.

- Deleting all my current credentials and carefully capture them again.

- Changing the API VERSION from 15 to 14.

Actions items for the community:

- Have you had this problem in any of your files?

- Have you solved this problem making different connections or by another way?

- Is this an open topic or there is a Microsoft Support Official Solve for this issue?

Thank you in advance for reading this topic, I hope that this could be useful!

Regards 🙂

Also have the same issue. Is there any update on timescale for a fix?

@CraigB Unfortunately this is an open topic since Novemeber-2022. I have not received any reply from Microsoft Team, so for now we need to wait. Just FYI, I ran an optimization process in the Power Query and now my Dashboard works, but basically you would need to re-make your file´s connections.

I don't know how or why, but I managed to get mine working too. Probably a "turn it off and on again" thing!

Thanks Keiichiro, unfortunately this is happening on brand new connections on new Sharepoint lists that I created today 😞

We're tring to build production BI based on lists so the fact this has been opened for over a month probably means we will have to look for another solution.

Hi, @Anonymous , @ClaireAMAdams , so I re-created the connection yesterday using the same method / code as before and now it works 🙄
