Unable to start Power BI Desktop. We weren't able to connect to the model

Problem persisit after:

Reinstall

  • With and without anti virus
  • Disabled firewall
  • Updated windows update
  • 32 and 64 bit version
  • with and without starting as admin

No event log, no performance log and analitical service log shows no error. That I was able to find.

 

Running on a windows server 2016 terminal server and local office 2016.

 

Please fix error or add hints on how to solve this problem

I am having the same issue when starting Power BI Desktop Store app on first run after installed if my Windows Display Language in Windows 10 Settings is set to "English (Hong Kong SAR)", unless I change my Windows Display Language to "English (United States)" to run it and then choose a language in the Region Settings of Power BI Options. After that, I can restore my Windows Display Language setting without any problem.
