Unable to map users in Analysis Service connection in the Power BI Gateway

Hi,

From today, the access to the old Power BI Gateway UI have been removed. We can only access to the new PowerBI Gateway UI

And, because of that, we have lost the capability to manage the users being mapped in the Analysis Services connection, to route requests from Azure AD users to the on-premises Active Directory ones, with which it is bases the RLS security of the Microsoft SQLServer SSAS.

You can see that the mapping rules for the initial users appear correctly:

But when scrolling down, all the rest of the mappings seems to disappear, leaving a blank space:

Please fix this. The mapped users cannot be seen and therefore cannot be managed correctly anymore!.

Hi  @ocasares

So you're missing the part that's circled in red, are you? How many users did you probably map?

Of course, the part you highlighted in red appears when we scroll down till the end. But in the middle a wide, blank space is left. See the position of the scroll bar to get an idea of how many mapping rules we are missing.

We have hundreds of mappings because we have a complex organization with several different active directory domains and till we do not migrate these accounts in the future to Azure AD we have to federate all these different domains with its different rules.

Looks like the issue might be a problem of visaluzation in the browser but the same happens when trying both with Chrome or Edge

Only the first 70 mapping rules are being shown

Hi  @ocasares

Is it possible to clear your browser's cache and then reopen the map user page to see if you have the same problem?

I cleansed cache as suggested just to discard this option. Confirmed that the problem is not a cache issue.

All the people in my organization gets the same behaviour.

Based on the above information, if you are a Power BI Pro licensee, you can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.

It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

Microsoft is supposedly fixing this bug second week of November.

What worked for me in the meantime (in Edge & Chrome). . .

Scroll below the blank area and click Add New Rule

Then click the elipses in upper right of Edge/Chrome to open settings > Select More Tools > Developer Tools

This opens up all of the mapped users so I can add the new ones.

Good luck!

Thanks for the update.

We will wait for the bug fixing.

Meanwhile, apart from the way you suggested, we discovered thanks to the Microsoft support team that changing the size of the screen (for instance change it to full screen mode) shows the mapping rules that were concealed in the part of the screen that it is being shown.

It does not show all. The remaining rules keeps on being hidden.

But at least we can see and manage them that way
