Unable to connect to Databricks from Power BI Desktop (ODBC error)

Since today we can't connect to our Azure Databricks instances through PBI Desktop. It seems like there is an issue with the ODBC driver.

Error message: "DataSource.MissingClientLibrary: The 'Driver' property with the value '{Simba Spark ODBC Driver}' does not match an installed ODBC driver."

Is this a Power BI issue? Maybe an issue in the latest PBI update? PBI Desktop version 2.132.1053.0

Same exact issue as of 2PM PST. Hopefully cleared up soon.

There is known issue that affects Power BI Desktop installed from Microsoft Store. You will see an error similar to one below.

We are working on the fix and will be providing update in the next 8 hours. In the meantime, this issue can be mitigated by uninstalling PBI Desktop from MS Store and the installing PBI Desktop August release from download center: Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center

Thanks,
Alex Gorev

Hi @AlexGorev
Thank you for your prompt response and for addressing the current issue. I hope it will be resolved successfully and we can return to normal operations 🙏

I have a concern regarding your suggestion to download Power BI Desktop from the Download Center instead of using the version from the Windows Store. All 20 of my dashboards depend on this Windows Store application, and I’m worried about the potential impacts on my reports, semantic models, RLS, subscriptions, and app functionality if I switch to the downloaded version 😐

Additionally, if I make this change and the issue with the Windows App is resolved shortly afterward, I would face the challenge of reverting back to the Windows Store version 👉👈

I would greatly appreciate your assistance / or anyone reading this and your insights on this matter.

Thanks!
Janak Chetri

P.S.
Just an update, the issue is same for while connecting PostgreSQL too
