Unable to Install Power BI Gateway

Hi,

 

I am unable to install Power BI Gateway Installer.

 

My Machine Specifications:
             OS: 64 Bit OS

             Installed memory (RAM): 8GB

             Processor: i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz

             Office Version: 2010 (32 Bit)

             Power BI (32 Bit)

 

Mentioned below is the message I am getting.

 

"PowerBIGatewayInstaller has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Please close the program."

 

Request your extended support in resolving the same.

@splaxi You can create a Support Ticket to Power BI team follow below steps:

@all Please check my previous post. If issue persists, please collect the logs via: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\ and share them with us. I will keep an eye on this thread, will sync all your feedback to PG team.

Thank you for getting back.

 

I already did file a support ticket to the PowerBI team. I can share the case number with you.

 

They stated very clearly that they were not able to assist me, because the installation process of the gateway is beyond what they believe they should handle. Only after the installation is completed, they would be able to help me.

 

So I'm still looking for someone explaning me which team at Microsoft is responsible for the Gateway it self. I know 4 different teams are building solutions upon the Gateway, but apparently that is not the same as owning the Gateway as a product.

Im having exactly the same issues, i cant event raise a support ticket via the PowerBI site as it claims im not a pro subscriber even though i am, if i click sign in at the top of the screen it just takes me to the powerbi portal.

 

So i have the issue but cant even request assistance.

 

@v-qiuyu-msfti cant speak for everyone but in my scenario there are no logs in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\ that i could even provide you. The entire application seems to crash long before you even get to this point.

 

Cant you not just provide everyone with the August build?

Unfortunatley your only option is to install one of the older builds. I was on a Skype call with Microsoft yesterday who provided me a copy of the May build (also available from the links PeacefulBeing has provided. 

 

They advised that the product group is aware of the issue and it will be fixed with the next release which should be availble soon. I was told there would be a blog post explaining the issue and confirming that the new build was available as and when they get to that point.

I'm trying to get some attention from one of the PM's at Microsoft, that should be in charge of the gateway.

 

Lets us see when the blog post will be released and the next release of the gateway.

@splaxinot a problem,

 

I certainly came away from the call with the impression they were very much aware and despite there only being a handful of people on this thread they suggested it was a very wide spread issue.

 

Ive also pointed the @PowerBI twitter account to this thread to see if we could get it escalated. 

 

Definetly seems its time to install old build, sit tight and muddle on as best we can!
