Transparency of Azure Maps not working in Power BI Service

Hello everyone,

It seems that the transparency of a reference layer in the Azure Maps is not working in Power BI Service. It only works well in Power BI Desktop.

Here is how it appears in Power BI Desktop, with transparency.

Now, this is how the same file appears after been published to Power BI Service, without transparency.

This problem seems to be recent because, in July, when the report was first published, everything was fine.

The reference layer is in *.shp format.

Thank you in advance.

Status: Investigating

Hi @bruno-paim ,

Can you provide detailed version information of both Power BI Desktop and Service so we can reproduce the issue?

And please add the broswer info too.

We'll get back to the product team as soon as it's acknowledged!
Thanks in advance!

Best regards.

Hi @v-xiaoyan-msft,

just letting you know that the same issue occurs when using .geojson as reference layer.

Observed for Edge & Chrome on my site.

Also left clicking into the layer restores the transparancy temporarily until one switches between pages in a report.

Hi @v-xiaoyan-msft ,

I am also experiencing the same issue with my Azure Map reference layers. I've checked using Chrome and Edge browsers still the same issue.

The fill-opacity in my reference layer file is set to zero (0) . Tried changing the fill opacity values between 0-1 but still the same result.

type : Feature
geometry {2}
type : Polygon
coordinates [1]
0 [17178]
properties {7}
stroke : #555555
stroke-width : 2
stroke-opacity : 1
fill : #555555
fill-opacity : 0

PBI Desktop Version: 2.135.7627.0 64-bit (August 2024)

PBI Service Service version:13.0.24268.6

Do you have any updates on the issue?

Thanks,

Achilles

Hi, I am also having issues with the azure map reference layer. Like the first post, in power bi desktop I can see the transparency of the map and the shapes just fine. When I publish into service, it appears as a solid colour, and sometimes the lines of the shape disappear. When I click on the map, the transparency and the lines reappear. This is an issue because users won't know it can be corrected by clicking on the map, and I mean the map should just work as expected. Is microsoft looking into this? Thanks.
