Smart Narrative not working with new tables in Shared Dataset

Hello,

I have been using a Shared Dataset for around a year.
I noticed that when I try to add a new Table in the Shared Dataset, Smart Narrative/Q&A visual does not seem to pick up the fields. I tried creating measures as well with these new Tables and it does not work. However, if I try the exact same measure with an older table, it does pick up.

It seems to not work with Tables that were created around 2 months ago onwards.... As I noticed it hasnt picked up some of my most recent Tables too.

The Smart Narrative/Q&A Visual DOES pick up new Tables/measures in my new Reports/Datasets that are not connected to this Shared Dataset.

Not sure if other people are experiencing the same issue as it seems very confined as to what it affects.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I think you should first check if you meet some limitations.

This is about Smart Narrative:

Hi @Anonymous ,

I do meet the requirements.
I am able to use Smart Narrative on the exact same data in a new report/dataset.
I am just not able to use it in my shared dataset.
I am also oddly not able to use other fields in my tables as Smart Narrative in my shared dataset too (anything that was made after July-Aug 2022).

I have raised a ticket with Microsoft support regarding this issue as well. I shared my screen and the support engineer also found the behaviour odd. They said they will investigate with the team and get back  to me.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Microsoft Support have come back to me with the solution.

Smart Narrative/Q&A can only support a certain amount of Tables in your dataset. So if you exceed that amount of Tables (not sure what the limit is), then it will stop working for those new tables after limit has reached. To resolve this issue, you have to disable the Field Synonyms in Q&A in a whole bunch of tables until it starts working again.
