Simba Spark ODBC Driver error in PBI Desktop (April 2022)

I've just upgraded to the lastest PBI Desktop version 2.104.702.0 64-bit (April 2022). When I'm trying to connect to an Azure Databricks cluster, I get the following error message:

Unable to connect
We encountered an error while trying to connect.
Details: "ODBC: ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126: The specified module could not be found. (Simba Spark ODBC Driver, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Desktop\bin\ODBC Drivers\Simba Spark ODBC Driver\SparkODBC_sb64.dll)."

The specified driver does exist in the directory. I'll have to revert back to the March version of PBI Desktop.

Status: Delivered

Issue is resolved by the following step.

1 Uninstall Power BI Desktop

2 Delete Desktop installation directory

3 Restart PC

4 Reinstall the application

Hi @FrankPreusker ,

May I know what kind of connector are you using to connect to the Azure Databricks data source? Please reinstall Power BI Desktop to see whether this issue will be resolved. Thanks in advance!

I experience the same issue. I use the Azure Databricks connector. Reinstalling the PowerBI Desktop software did not solve the issue.

The file SparkODBC_sb64.dll is existing rightfully under the above mentioned path. Not sure why it can't be found.

I'm using the standard "Azure Databricks" connector delivered with PBI.

A re-install indeed helped for me. After uninstall I've deleted the directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Desktop and restarted the PC prior to the new installation.
