Semantic model formatting issue (Desktop) November 2024 version

When changing formatting for a calculated column or table column, it fails to change the preview in table view. This might work for the first format change, but second or third attempt will show the column not updating with changed formatting.

This also then affects relationship building, as the pop-up dialog that opens up when adding a relationship cannot preview data and won't let you save the relationship.

I've found 3 ways to force PBI to update the formatting:
1. save, close and open up the report again
2. delete an existing relationship
3. Reload a table to the semantic model (right-click on table name, and choose "Refresh data"

Hi @Pentti ,

Based on the above information, this issue may need to collect log files for further troubleshooting. Since community support engineers don't have that access, I would suggest opening a Support Ticket. If you are a Power BI Pro or Fabric licensee, you can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.
It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.
