Report built off a Datamart - App user access to underlying data

Hi Guys

I had built a report based on a live connected Datamart, we published it a while back and everything was working beautifully.

We have recently made some changes the report and have republished it to service, now all app user have lost access due to not having permission to the underlying dataset.

Does anyone know why this might be? We only want people to have access to the report with not ability to connect to the underlying datamart so add the users as direct access to the datamart is out of the question.

All other reports you publish have delegated access granted through the app, but not this one?

Any help would be greatly apprecited.

Thanks

Hi  @StevenVF ,

If you removed app permissions as part of the update, new app installers won't get those permissions. However, the update won't remove the permissions from users who already have them.

To check existing access, go to the Direct access tab on the datasets manage permissions page and check the permissions manually.

By default, all the newly added content, to an already published app, is marked as invisible. You must go to each audience group and check it manually.

Best regards.

Hi Caitlyn

Thanks so much for the reply :).

This is a report connected to a dataset that is automatically generated by a Datamart, there is no manage permission on the dataset that is on the Datemart. I had already checked and have checked again in the direct access and there are none of the security groups we have listed in the app we published the report to. There is no way to add app as a permission, this can only be done automatically by publishing the content to an app. I can add direct access, but if i give them view it allows anyone in that group to connect to the underlying data via excel and other methods which in not desierable for us.

As i mentioned this was all working fine, we published the report to the app and all app users could see it and access the data in the report, yes we also made the report availble to the appropriate audiences in said app. This issue only occurred when we made an update to the report and republished it to the app, no other changes either to the underlying data, app or the access groups and permissions, this is not new content.

Having the same issue. Users with "Free" Power BI accounts can't view the visualizations in the reports based on datamarts published to the app.

This has to be a glitch, since the purpose of the app in a premium workspace is to allow "Free" Power Bi accounts to view the reports without the need for a "Pro" liscence.

As a workaround, I have to add the users as viewers to the workspace, which isn't ideal, since I'd rather they only view the report via the app.
