Rectangle content in a Paginated Report should always move when the rectangle is moved.

Hi all,

I noticed the following unexpected behaviour in PowerBI Report Builder, which I think is a bug that needs to be fixed.

One of the best things about a paginated report is that it is pixel perfect, meaning we can align content / visuals perfectly. In the following scenario how ever, it doens't work as expected. And that scenario is the following.

In a typical report, I use the following build-up. On the body (canvas) I place a rectangle. In that rectangle, I then place the visuals I want to use, like tables, text boxes etc. When I then move the rectangle, for an update of the report for example, I move all of it's content too. This works fine when I select the rectangle with my mouse and drag it, or move it with my cursor keys. But when I change the location of that rectangle (under position in the Properties), making it pixel perfect to a location, it only moves the rectangle, and not the content! And that is unexpected.

When I do the same with a List item instead of the rectangle, in other words, when I place visuals on a List item and then change the location using position in the properties, it does work as expected. It then moves the visuals with the underlying List item.

This is the case in the latest version (v15.7.1801.18) I downloaded and many version before.

I hope this can be fixed.

Kind regards,
Bas Nieuwenhuizen

Hi Ailsa,

Thanks for responding so swiftly.

To explain/demonstrate the issue I created this video on youtube. https://youtu.be/BddbNXkDVVw.

That should make it al clear, I hope.

Hope to hear from you!

Kind regards,
Bas

I have the same issue. Would be nice, if wouldn't ignore the case. Especially, when Bsnwnhzn showed the problem in a video for you.
