REST API - Vital information not exported

To build a complete inventory of Power BI using the REST API besides the content all settings of an object (workspace, app, report, etc) should be exported. Currently a lot of the settings cannot be retrieved - even security relevant settings. Information that are missing include:

  • Contact information on workspace, app, report, etc
  • (Workspace) whether contributers are allowed to update the app
  • (Workspace) whether users can edit the semantic model
  • (Workspace) whether strict access control for all data connection types is enforced
  • (App) whether the app installs automatically
  • (App) whether users are allowed to make a copy of the reports in the app
  • etc

It should be possible to retrieve all settings of all objects through the REST API.

Status: Delivered

Hi @daniel-g ,

This is the current supported REST API:Power BI REST APIs for embedded analytics and automation - Power BI REST API | Microsoft Learn.

If you would like to suggest feature improvements, you may  vote the idea and comment here to improve this feature. It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.
