Please install the MySQL client on the machine which has on-premises data gateway run. As you install the MySQL 8.0.12, please install mysql-connector-net-8.0.12.msi client https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/file/?id=479532. As on-premises data gateway only has 64 bit version, please install 64 bit client version as well.
Before creating a MySQL data source in data gateway, please test connection in Power BI desktop or workbench firstly if there are Power BI desktop or workbench running on the same machine as data gateway.
