Power Query (Desktop): unavailable Group By button, missing File menu, no quick access bar

Hello

With the latest update (sep/24) of Power BI Desktop (My version is: 2.136.1202.0 64-bit) I have several issues in Power Query

First, the Group By button is unavailable in ANY case

(Of course, I can do grouping with the M function, but...)

Second, the File menu is missing. Really, I'm not sure if this is an issue but in any case I don't have the Save button, for example

And last (at the moment), I've lost the quick access bar . And of course I can't add any button to the quick access bar.

(A few days ago, I had the same problems. I checked the version and it said October/24 😳. But later, it was automatically reversed. But now again I have the same issues)

Thanks in advance for your help and attention

Hi  @davidfelipepg

We have seen on the internal platform that other engineers have reported this issue and submitted it.

The engineers on the product team are now aware and will do their best to resolve the issue. I will update here if there is any progress, so please be patient!

And additionally I have seen that, when I have a list or a record object, I don't have the specific list/record menu

Hi @davidfelipepg

How did you update your PBI Desktop ? Did you update it inside the Microsoft store or did you download the latest installer through Download Center to update it? Have you guys tried uninstalling the original program and re-downloading the installer to update it?

Hi, @v-yetao1-msft

Thanks for your answer

I don't manage the updates. I have a business account of my company and it updates automatically.

I didn't try to re-install becuse I guess it will be re-updated again and I guess this wrong behaviour is a programming bug

If you need more information, please ask me again

Group By button in PBI-Power Query greyed out

I verified I am on the latest version (september 2024 release) -  Update was installed automatically

I found a work-around for the 'greyed out' group by function in Power Query so figured I would share.

The function is greyed out in the ribbon, but you can still right click on a column header and select "Group By".

It brings up the normal group by dialog and allows basic and advanced grouping.

Thanks a lot @s_wolfe99

I've seen that option too. But nevertheless thanks for sharing.

(although still some other issues with the PQ's ribbon)

Have a good day

I have the same issues at my company. We use the company's portal to update powerbi and downloading from official site (x64) and the end still the same.

Waiting for explanation or fixed update.

Thanks a lot for your response @v-yetao1-msft . I'll be patient. No problem.

We have alternatives for the Group by button on the ribbon and for the missed specific menus for lists and records. But for me, the quick access bar is more important and useful. And don't forget please the missed the File menu too
