Power BI Desktop freezes when saving

Hello,

Starting today, Power BI Desktop freezes every time I try to save. 

This happend to me and at least one other colleague.

The freezing does not prevent the saving itself so far, but I need to restart Power BI Desktop after each time I save my Report.

 

Has anyone had a similar issue so far or any suggestion to resolve it?

Same for me, working with version 2.142.928.0 64-bit (April 2025) - no issues so far. Also in the Power BI change log (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-change-log) for QFE3 - QFE5 this issue seems to be addressed multiple times. For my part I switched off the automatic updates, so I won't have such an issue again, where I need to roll back.

PowerBi regularly freezes on me at random points, usually when applying a change to a measure. Try unplugging the network cable or disabling WiFi when PowerBi freezes - PowerBi usually crashes but recovers enough to be able to save, close and restart. Better than losing hours of work. For the Microsoft crowd, I have said this many times in forum posts, support tickets etc. I believe there is an issue where dialogs are being displayed behind other windows, with no way to bring them to the front. This is an issue with modal dialogs (like the SAVE option), which requires you to select an option to close the active dialog and return control to the application. Also happens in PowerQuery when modifying steps, particularly with large models. Regularly happens with the MFA authentication window as well - randomly opens after the MFA timeout period (a few hours), but appears behind all other windows so PowerBi appears frozen.
