Power BI Desktop freezes when saving

Hello,

Starting today, Power BI Desktop freezes every time I try to save. 

This happend to me and at least one other colleague.

The freezing does not prevent the saving itself so far, but I need to restart Power BI Desktop after each time I save my Report.

 

Has anyone had a similar issue so far or any suggestion to resolve it?

Same issue here. I was working on a PBIX, saved it, no issue. Then switched the file type to PBIP and it got stuck on the "Working on it". I had to kill the process. On a good note, I think it saved correctly before getting borked.

Update: this seems to be working as of today. I've rolled back to the January installation of Power BI Desktop.

I'm having the same issue this month. It is making it impossible to develop any reports. My computer has 40GB RAM. I've cleared cache, maxed the data load settings, optimized my settings. Nothing seems to work... It even does this with a 3.5 mb file, so it isn't a size or processing issue. Any answers to this? @Anonymous

Same issue happened starting from March 2025, can someone from Power BI supporting team look into this?

@GeorgeZhaounfortunately, Microsoft has been totally silent on this issue for weeks now. Its certainly not ideal, but it at least allows us to continue developing reports using the service we are paying for

Same issue, I have been struggling all week long and ended up trying the workaround of installing January's version as a fix. Working fine now.

Same issue here - since 2 weeks and even with the March update the issue remains Updating a datasource => freeze saving => freeze .... very annoying and sometime you have no idea what you changed, so you need to redo everything
