Power BI Desktop freezes (not responding) because of ABBYY Lingvo

Power BI Desktop freezes (not responding), when “ABBYY Lingvo x5” is running.

How to reproduce:

  1. Run ABBYY Lingvo x5 (multi-language translator)
  2. Run Power BI Desktop
  3. Do something in Power Query or DAX (editing queries, visuals, etc)
  4. Approximately after 15 minutes Power BI Desktop freezes (stops responding), with PBIDesktop.exe CPU utilization 11% or 12%

Versions:

  • Windows 10 v.1909 (or earlier)
  • Power BI Desktop v.2.88.621.0 64-bit (or earlier, I see this effect since May 2019)
  • ABBYY Lingvo x5 v.15.0.826.5

hi  @pavel_severov

I have tested on my side, it works well.

if you try it in another PC to see if it works well?

I think this is more related with hardware.

Lin

Hi @v-lili6-msft , thanks for reply,

Hardware is Dell Latitude 5590.

Will try to check it on the other PC, if I will have a chance.

Please note that problem occurs within normal developer's work with the report. e.g. editing the queries, measures, tables, viauals, relationsheps. For my case 15 minutes is usually enough to get freeze, but if you want to test it on your side - I would recommend to perform permanent manual work within 45 or 60 minutes.
And version of ABBYY Lingvo is most probably also important. You need to use the old version of ABBYY Lingvo x5 v.15.0.826.5 by 2011, to reproduce the issue.
