OpenConnectionError message connecting new PBIX to a Power BI Dataset

Please go to Power BI service, sign in with the account which you used in Power BI desktop, go to specific workspace and check if you can find the dataset which you would like to connect to in desktop.

In Power BI desktop, please try to connect to other datasets, check if the same issue happens.

Thanks for the response.  Today I made a new PBIX file in Power BI desktop where I connected to my SQL Server to one table only, and removed all except three of the columns.  Saved this new PBIX file and published up to my My Workspace without actually creating anything for a report.

Made a new PBIX file in Power BI desktop and attempted to connect to the Power BI datasets which gave me the same error.  With this error you actually need to kill Power BI desktop, hitting cancel just keeps bringing this error up.

Below is the latest log that was created.  Unsure if that will be helpful or not.  I have not mentioned before that I did just update to the July version in case there is a problem with this in that version.

I just tried another test.  Created a data table within a Power BI desktop PBIX file containing of three rows and two columns.  Did all the same steps of saving, publishing, and attempting to create a new PBIX file in Power BI desktop that I did previously.

When I attempted to connect to the Power BI dataset with this small table, I received the same error.  No idea if these logs are any different though I will paste it below also.

Perhaps it would be good for me to mention that I am using the government dashboard (powerbigov.us) not the commercial dashboard.  Unsure if this would make a difference.  Not sure how else to make my test simpler.

I posted this issue back in July and even though I have updated to the July 2018 version of Power BI Desktop, it still doesn't work for me.  It certainly has nothing to do with the PBIX file as I created a very small table within Power BI (see picture below) with no success.

When creating a new PBIX file and selecting to Get Data from a Power BI Datasets from the Power BI Service, I still get the below error.

I have submitted the issue within Power BI to microsoft and am posting here as it recommended to see if I can find answers to why it is not working.

I can paste the log again like I have done twice previously, though I would really appreciate it if someone can help me resolve this.
