This has been onlyissue not been able to resolve in Power BI easily.
I have Published new content in Power BI which i can refresh.
have checked numerous time its cloud data source so not sure why it needs gateway.

I'm wondering if you didn't finish the question you were trying to describe.
This description seems to stop at strange places.
Is your question that you are using a cloud data source but Power BI still requires you to configure the gateway?

Community Support Team_ CaitlynThere are some fundermental issues with Power BI.
I have a file with multiple data sources (Share point folder, SQL, gateway folder). If you publish it with all the different sources it will fail to auto refresh.
However if you just initially publish with one source into the required workspaces and set up refresh, then add all the other datasources and then republish it works fine.
