On-premise Gateway needs DOS restart?

Hi all,

I have installed on-premise Gateway on my laptop before installing it on server. Followed every step and worked like a charm. Then I publish a new rpeort and all of a sudden the Gateway goes offline. I can only manually restart the service using DOS and then it starts working again.

Is this a bug?

Does your gateway go offline every time you publish the report to Power BI Service? If no, it should not be a bug. Please refer to https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-gateway-onprem-tshoot/#configuration.

With latest version of on-premises gateway, you can also restart the service in UI.

Hi v-haibl-msft,

Yes, the On-premises data getway service was stopping every time I published a report from the PowerBI desktop.

Only way around it was to set the service to restart automatically upon failure but it's just masking the problem.

I have been in touch with Adam Saxtom (GuyInCube) and he thinks there might be an issue with live refresh data:

Could you please upgrade to the July release of the On-Premises Data Gateway? Similar issue is fixed in that version.
