New workspace experience not available within Excel 'Connect to data in Power BI' list

Hi all,

As a Power BI Pro user, I would like to connect to a Power BI dataset that resides within the new Workspace Experience using Excel.

Reproduce steps

1) Create New Workspace Experience

2) Publish dataset to New Workspace Experience

3) Open Power BI Add-In within Excel

4) Try to connect to dataset that resides within New Workspace experience -> Workspace is not shown

When executing the same steps using an old workspace experience, the workspace is shown.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks.

@Rubenvw,

I will consult this issue internally. In your scenario, you can use Analyze in Excel feature instead, I can successfully open datasets/reports of new preview workspace in Excel using this feature.

Hi @v-yuezhe-msft thanks for investigating this issue.

Yes, we have already noticed that exploring the dataset in Excel is possible when using 'Analyze in Excel' feature. For some reasons, we prefer openen the dataset from Excel.

@Rubenvw,

I got response from PG:

"It’s on our backlog. No ETA at this point."

In your scenario, please use Analyze in Excel as workaround.

Lydia
