I was also getting this error recently

"An error occured while attempting to publish "Report.pbix": The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error"

Just wanted to let future people know I was getting this error due to the capacity attached to the workspace being turned off.

Once I attached the workspace to a capacity that was on, it deployed successfully
