New In-object editing not working: Can't remove labels from line charts

You can't disable it neither in-object nor at the Format pane on the side.
In order to remove the lables, we have to revert back to the standard non in-object format.

I'm watching this bug for quite a while, maybe 3  updates ago and it stil here, so I'm trying to help you guys to get rid of it.

Best regards,

Thanks in advance!

Hi @zapppsr ,

I don't quite understand your description, are you referring to the tags in your Line chart that can't be removed?
And the following sentence, do you mean that this problem has occurred after the last three Power BI Desktop updates?

Can you provide detailed version information to help us troubleshoot further?

Best regards.

Hi @Anonymous , thank you for replying.

I will try to put it simply:

a) Data labels are the numbers that appear above the markers in a line chart.
b) You cannot disable them (make them disappear) using the new In-object edit mode.
c) The button Data Label, In-object or in the Format Pane doesn't work.
d) We have already had three Power BI Desktop updates and none have solved the issue.

I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi @Anonymous , I have a little update here.

I have found out that the bug is related to themes. It appears that since the Power BI Desktop February update, the JSON theme files have become broken due to new syntax and structure. I am working on a new theme.json file myself to adapt to these changes. I have already managed to create a new file with all the visuals I use, customized.

However, the problem still exists. If you apply a JSON theme instead of the default Power BI theme and this JSON has some explicit setting regarding labels, the new in-object formatting will not allow you to remove the labels, which you can do with no problem with other settings or by reverting to the non in-object interface.

So please check the interference of the JSON theme on the in-object editing.

Regards,
