NEW BUG: Version: 2.117.984.0 64bit (May 2023)

Power BI Desktop Version: 2.117.984.0 64bit(May 2023)

 

When I try using Power BI Desktop Shortcut by Shift+Right click different user, It was previously working for me to login using different account. But recently I have updated the Power BI Desktop software(May 2023), after that I have getting below error, Kindly help on this.

 

Unable to sign in
Sorry, we encountered an error while trying to sign you in.
Details:
Unknown Status: Unexpected

Error: 0xfffffffff80070520
Context: Unexpected exception while waiting for accounts control to finish: '(pii)'
Tag: 0x1f7d734b (error code -2147023584) (internal error code 528315211)

Status: Accepted

It’s a known issue . The engineers are actively working on this issue and I will come back with an update if there is any progress.

I have tested it in W11 environment and it works fine with different user. Can you provide me with the detailed steps and screenshots? You can also download Fiddler to trace the log of error messages and determine the cause of the problem based on the log.

Using Windows 10 Enterprise - 19044.2965
Power BI Desktop Version: 2.117.984.0 64bit(May 2023)

 

Step1: Shift+Right Click on Power BI Desktop shortcut in the Desktop
Step2: Click Run as different user
Step3: Enter User name & Password which is a another account, not belong to current account.
Step4: Now Power BI Desktop- Getdata/Recent sources pop up page will get open
Step5: Close the Pop-Up page, you can see backside one error popup has shown
Step6: You can see backside one error popup has shown

Same here - just updated to May 2023 and we have to open Power BI as one user (admin user with SQL access) then sign in as another (security reasons) - always worked fine, but since I've updated to May 2023 yesterday I've getting the same error as above when trying to sign in:

I got below error as well few times after Power BI Desktop Version: 2.117.984.0 64bit(May 2023) installation.

I've had to roll back to April's version - can't do anything with May onwards as we have to run as a different user
