March 2025 Update - Error fetching data for this visual

Hi,

After the March update (Version: 2.141.1253.0 64-bit (March 2025)), almost all of the visuals are showing errors.

Here is the prompt when clicking "See details":

Error fetching date for this visual

An expected error occured (file " , line , function ").

Hope this issue be reverted soon.

Guys, have you tried version 2.142.928.0 64-bit (April 2025)? This build seems to be working for me, installed from Intune/MS Store.

And just to clarify, you are using the version from the Microsoft Store? What visuals are not working for you @tbuck ?

@Stinkys and everyone else in this post. Earlier, I got off the phone with Microsoft and they gave me some unwelcoming news. They have not nor do they currently plan to support any arm processors with power BI Desktop. This means any windows arm machine with a snapdragon processor is not even being taken into consideration when they release new versions of Power BI Desktop. They recommended that I post the idea and get people to upvote it so that it may be considered for development. I explained that this is shocking considering ARM processors are far superior for most tasks and is where the industry is heading. For Microsoft to not develop considering the arm architecture, would mean they would likely fall behind in the very near future. Here is the post in the fabric ideas area. Yep, received the same feedback from Reddit just now. Disappointing response. You would think that if they are selling the hardware then they would at least make an effort to ensure their software is fully supported on that architecture. Well, all I can say is the April update is currently working for me on Snapdragon when all of my visuals were previously broken. Suggestions I recommend to try and debug your instance would include: 1) Clean uninstall any previous Power BI installations 2) Reboot 3) Ensure your Windows updates and .NET 4.x are up to date, I am on .NET CU 4.8.1 KB5054979 dated 16/04/25, 4) Install Power BI Desktop from Microsoft Store (or Intune Company Portal) and 5) Say a prayer. Edit: It appears I am having a senior moment - reports that rely on local data sources are still broken but Direct Lake is working. Have down graded again and I am at a loss.

@Stinkys can you link to the reddit post? I'm out of avenues to try to push this forward anymore, I'm at a complete loss how Microsoft isn't supporting its own operating systems with its own applications...

I encountered the same issue with the Power BI Desktop May 2025 version while running it on a Mac using Parallels. However, I discovered that the problem occurs when using measures that contain IF or SWITCH statements. As a workaround, I was able to rewrite these measures using a DIVIDE(expression, if valid then 1 else 0) strategy. I hope this helps you overcome the issue and assists @v-venuppu @Microsoft in gaining a better understanding of its root cause. BTW: I still find it surprising that the issue does not occur on an Intel-based machine. Best regards, Frank van Zuilen, Pilares

Hi there! I also encountered the same issue with the Power BI Desktop May 2025 version while running it on a Mac using Parallels. And PBI desktop 32bit works for me with my setup, I installed it and have no issues now. Try this workaround till 32bit is available.

Power BI Desktop 32bit won’t be supported after June this year.
