Giving users build access on a dataset and published app doesn't do what you'd expect

Hi, I'm having trouble giving users access to datasets. I have a published app and they were given App,Build access. I have also given them direct access to the dataset (Manage access - Direct access) Read,Build. They are still unable to access the dataset I have published. Am I missing something?

Someone else in another team had the same issue, when giving me access to their dataset. They also tried giving me Viewer access to the workspace but that didn't work and in the end had to give me Contributor access to their workspace, bearing in mind, I don't need access to their workspace and reports as our team has a separate workspace - we only needed to connect to their dataset.

Is there a better way to share datsets between teams/workspaces without giving them access to the workspace? I don’t want to have to give users Contributor access to our workspace, where there are other confidential reports shared to a specific audiance in the app only.

Hi @Analyst-Rene

The prerequisite for users to be able to access your builds is that they must have Pro or PPU licenses, unless your content is hosted in Premium capacity, then free users can access it as well.

If the user has the appropriate licenses, then they only need to be assigned the build permissions for the dataset.

Hi @Anonymous , users do have Pro licenses. Also, my colleague that tried to share their dataset with me, was sharing it from a Pro workspace but I have a Premium Per User license myself.
