Filled Map not Exporting Correctly to PDF

Hello there!

I have a filled map visual on a report that loads correctly. When exporting to PDF (Current Values & This page only) something goes wrong and I am presented with a whole world map.

This is odd as we're only looking at data over a small geographical region. This is something that also worked previously that suddenly stopped working.

Troubleshooting/ testings so far:

Tried a small date range to pull less data. Did not fix.

Tried a measure to run in the background to give the visual time to load when exporting. Did not fix.

Some of the data does not fit the geographical data requirements, so I've created a second table to run the quantities through where only correctly formatted data can be loaded. Did not fix.

The map is layered behind another visual with no background. I tried separating the visuals and this did not fix.

I'm stumped as this worked previously (showing the region in export). Now nothing I try seems to work. Any ideas or fixes anyone?

Status: Investigating

Hi @47Yh12 ,

Do the testing, but in my case, the filled map in PDF file is no problem.

As the following shows:

In my report:

vmengzhumsft_0-1668665278118.png

In my PDF file:

vmengzhumsft_1-1668665309692.png

It seems to have changed in color, but does not appear to show the whole world map as you say.

Can you show me your steps?

Aloha @v-mengzhu-msft !

Thanks so much for reaching out.

When on the report in Power BI it loads as expected:

And when I export the same page on the same report I get the below:

47Yh12_1-1668680117345.png

Steps: "Export" button then select PDF option. Chose 'Current Values' and 'Only export current page', then click 'Export'.

Export commences and file is automatically downloaded into Downloads.

This was something that worked previously using the exact same steps and I would have received a exported report much like you did.

Many thanks,

Hi @47Yh12 ,

Thank you very much for your patience in replying. My steps are same as yours, but the visual I am using seems to be different. Which map visual are you using?

Aloha @v-mengzhu-msft ,

The viusal used is the standard out-of-the-box 'Filled map' visual.

(There is a bar chart with no background layered over the top.)

Many thanks, it's much appreciated.

I having the same issue with the filled map. The export to pdf renders the map and data points correctly when done from pbi desktop. However, the export to pdf from power BI service gives just a blank white coloured map as shown.

Please help!

1. (Export pdf from PowerBI service) - fails

power bi service export to pdf.PNG

2. Successful export to Pdf from Power BI desktop (same map)

I am also having this issue - there are a few posts on this. I would like to know if there is an expected fix?  This is a business critical process that broke sometime in November.

This looks to have been fixed.  Thank you!
