Export to PDF from Desktop Doesn't Work

Hi,

I tried to export to PDF from my desktop, and nothing happens. I rebooted. Same issue. I had to publish and print from the service in order for this to work.

Version: 2.99.621.0 64-bit (November 2021)

Status: Delivered

There is a newly released November 2021 Power BI Desktop(Version: 2.99.782.0). Issue should be fixed in it.

@Anonymous I don't think you'll be able to downgrade the version itself. I'd recommend uninstalling the current version you have installed and re-installing the October 2021 which can be found here;
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-latest-update-archive?tabs=powerbi-desktop

The link to the exe installer will be just above "September 2021 Update (2.97.725.0)".

Hi All,

Thanks for your attention here.

Please create a new pbix file with some sample visuals and then try to export it to pdf again. At the same time, check whether there will be a temp pdf file in the path similart to the following screenshot.

If you have tried it and reinstall newly released Desktop but no luck, please consider these two workarounds:

1 Upgrade to October 2021 Power BI Desktop by the link in Anthony_C 's comment to see whether the export operation will be successful

2 If upgrade is not a good choice to you,you may open a support ticket by Support | Microsoft Power BI and there will be an engineer assigned to you to help you troubleshoot on this issue.

Best Regards,

I requested my company administrator to install de October version, but Im worried how to prevent the automatic upgrade again.

After that, I will create the support ticket

This same thing is happening to me. I have uninstalled and re-installed PowerBI, but nothing happens when I click "Export to PDF" still. I need to export this report by next week, so hoping this bug can be fixed ASAP!

If nothing happens when I click "Export to PDF". Uninstall the lastest Nov version of PowerBI and install Oct version. It works for me.

Check to get Oct version : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-latest-update-archive?tabs=powerbi-de...

Sailing in the same boat. Export option all of a sudden just stopped working for me yesterday.

The workaround I came for it - Publish it on your workspace, It will open your file on web-app. From there export it as PDF.

To all

I managed to get the October version installed and it works fine (thanks to our admin team).

Now the issue stands and eventually my machine will automaticaly update to November. I hope a solution is found soon. Should I raise the ticket anyway?

I'm in the same boat - my export to PDF from Power BI Desktop November version just stopped working overnight.  I will try to reinstall the October version to see if that gets around the issue in the short term, but it would be better if this was fixed in the November version!
