Even with the Preview option Power BI query for Datasets and AS set we cant see datasets in Get Data

Previously before the March update we had a Power BI Pbix hooked up to data

We wanted to remove the data and then reconnect to a dataset so we could hook the visuals up to the data set

To do this we had to set the Option power BI query for Datasets and AS to on

remove the data

Clear all the permissions of the old data sources. Then go back to Power Query Editor. New Data source and dataset became available and we could connect to our data set.

We have just gone back in and there are now no queries

And even with the above setting connected we cant access datasets anymore in the pbix file.

We are worried that we now wont be able to simply reestablish the dataset under all the original reports that were set up. Please can you advise on this?

Hi @DebbieE ,

Direct Query to Power BI datasets queries will not display in Power Query for you could create report based on them but not do some transformations on them. If you try to Get Data from Power Query, you will find Power BI Datasets connector isn’t listed in the Get Data dialog.

To change the dataset you connected to, you could do it by Transform data>Data source settings>Change Source or reuse Power BI datasets connector to connect to the new dataset after clearing current permissions.

Im not fully understanding your post.

'To change the dataset you connected to,'

We arent changing a dataset to another. We have removed the old data stright from a SQL database and then tried to connect to a dataset. I tried using change source as you suggested. We connected to the dataset here. Then OK and there was still 0 datasets in the report. it didnt work.

And again I should say that this was all working before the march update and now its not.
