Date Format in PowerBI , not recognized as date in Excel, rather taking it as text in excel.

In powerbi I have defined calendar date as data type date , but the same(powerbi dataset) when accessed in excel the field is not showing as date, rather it shows the type as General or text.  Any input on this will be greatly appreciated.

Did you use Power BI Publisher for Excel to connect to the Power BI dataset? 

I test on my side, the Date type field displays as date format when we use Power BI publisher for Excel. Please update your add-in to the latest version then test again.

Im using the date format dd-mm-yyyy which in source and powerbi is recognized as date but when its accessed from Excel im getting it as text . Im using the latest powerbi publisher
