I have been running a DAX query agains a data model created by DataMart functionality. Intermitantly the same query will fail moments later with the error message described below. Note the brief time elapsed between the successfull run and the failed run. There were no changes to the datamart model during the time frame. I have observed if I delete the relationship in the data model and then re-create the relationship the query will work for a period of time. The query will then work for a period fo time and then fail again.
