DataFormat.Error: We couldn't convert to Number. Details: Cross Ply - BUG?

Dear Power BI community,

Im trying to update a power bi report with a new dataset. The data comes from an excel file that has 100% the same structure as the previous one except it has new data.

When i change the data source (via transform data) the data refreshes but some lines give errors (DataFormat.Error: We couldn't convert to Number. Details: Cross Ply - and also Unknown)

I have no idea why that is, the whole table is formatted exactly the same, it seems like a bug to me.

As you can see in the image below the data looks the same (and the formatting is the same too)

Can someone help or check this out?

Hi @Angel22 ,

Dataformat errors in Power Query are mostly data type errors and do not prevent you from loading data to Power BI, instead the cells will be loaded as blank.

Thank you for your answer.

You mention that those are mostly "data type errors", but the data is exaclty the same, same format structure, etc as the one found in the rest of the file, no differences, so i dont understand why this happens. For me the error makes no sense so i guess something goes wrong in power bi/power query when processing the data, maybe a bug?

The thing is that i dont want those values to be blank, i need to use thos values for the analysis, unfortunately the solutions you mentioned did not work for me.

Also i tried turning of this setting but is simply not possible, when i restart power BI is still ticked as active

any other ideas?

I also tried to create a completely new Power BI file and import the same data and everything works fine, that means that something goes wrong in the way that Power BI is importing the data into the existing file when automatically trying to figure out the data type, so it seems to be a bug to me.

It looked like everything worked fine, except it is not, Power BI does not show the error, i just found it by filtering columns, all this is very weird, i would say definetively a BUG
