Composite DirectQuery for Power BI datasets failing on dataset refresh in PBI Service
Created a report based on the composite model (DatasetC) from a PBI dataset (DatasetA) and a Sharepoint import (SourceA). When published it retains all the imported data previously loaded on the PBI Desktop file, visualizing the report pages I can see all the visual showing the proper values.
When refreshing DatasetC on the PBI Service Workspace no error is raised, however when opening the report based on DatasetC all the visuals containing elements from tables created based on SourceA go into error due to the following error :The query referenced calculated column 'table'[column] which does not hold any data because evaluation of one of the rows caused an error
Goes without saying that this data was available when published and prior to the data refresh. When downloading the file from the Workspace and opening it on PBI Desktop (following the refresh) it has reverted back to a Live Connection to DatasetA losing any information of the connnection to SourceA and losing any data in the Data View, losing also the possibility to select it as it is in a Live Connection, and losing in the Model View all the tables created from the PowerQuery connected to SourceA.

From the error message, I suspect if you created a calculated column that references a Direct Query data source, which is not supported in Service, please check it.

Thanks v-yanjiang-msft , removing the calculated column that referenced the DirectQuery data source solved the problem.
There might be some cases in the future were it would not be possible to avoid referencing the DirectQuery in calculated columns of imported data, do you know if there is a plan to implement this feature in the future?

Glad your problem was solved!
About the feather plan, I haven't found it yet. You can also create an idea to improve this feature. It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products. What 's more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the furure.
