Bug - hyperlinks on PBI Desktop do not open a web page

I first ran into this problem (and other UI issues) in the February 2023 version and had to revert back to November 2022 to perform my job function. There's really nothing more to add other than the hyperlinks behave as expected in November 2022 (2.111.590.0 64-bit), and do nothing in the February 2023 version (I don't have the #) and the new March 2023 version (2.115.462.0 64-bit).
I have reverted back (again) to the November 2022 version and all hyperlinks work as expected. The only change is I am now opening the same PBIX file with the older PBI Desktop version.

Status: Investigating

Hi @v-vannormanc ,

By my test the February 2023 version Desktop works fine in my side.

Is there any error message? If not, I suggest you uninstall and reinstall Desktop to have a try.

There are no error messages and no other feedback. It's just like clicking on regular text. Ctrl + Left Click has no affect. All the hyperlinks behave as expected in the November version but not in the February or March versions, using the same PBIX file. Reseting, Repairing, Reinstalling, Unistalling then Reinstalling, Rebooting, etc. have no affect on the bug repro.

I was told 2.115.663.0 fixed this bug but it did not. Opening the same pbix file with PBI version 2.111.590.0 (64-bit) still works. I hope using an older version isn't somehow a security risk because I cannot do my job otherwise. There is another blocker problem with the March builds but before I waste my time with another blocker, let's see how this process goes...

The bug persists with version 2.116.322.0 64-bit (April 2023). I was told the issue was escalated to MS Tier 3.

Power BI Desktop Infrastructure Update under Options and settings --> Options --> Preview feature in Power BI Desktop was turned off. Checking that box and restarting solved the issue.

"[Microsoft] is switching to the WebView2 and not going to support running desktop under CEF/Chromium."

The above parameter is no longer visible in version 2.116.602.0 64-bit (April 2023), which appears to be the universal fix.
