BUG - MS Map Visual is Completely Blank in both Desktop and Online version

MS "Map" visual often turns completely blank, it happens to many different reports, and very often (> 30% of the time), to both online and desktop versions. Strangely, the map comes back by itself after a while (hours), for no apparent reason.

 

It started a few months ago, everything was fine before, so I am sure it is a BUG MS need to fix ASAP. The Map visual is such a basic part of PBI, I can't believe a bug like this would happen.

 

PBI Desktop Version: 2.139.1733.0 64-bit (January 2025)

First of all I think you can check this article which has Power BI maps not showing related solutions:

If these methods don't apply to your environment, I think you can open a support work order and the work order support engineer will feed it back to the product team for further investigation.

Thanks, I checked the article, all map options are enabled, and I am using the latest version of PBI.

 

The article doesn't explain the bug, because:

 

1) There is no error message (e.g. map is not allowed), but the map is simply blank

2) In both PBI desktop and online, map starts as blank, then becomes normal in a few hours, so there is no data / permission issue

3) In addition, I found that open/close .pbix file a few times, or keep refreshing browser will make the map come back eventually

 

It really look like a bug in backend programming of the map visual itself.

 

Please help pass the error to your dev. team. I am not admin so I am not able to submit a ticket. Appreciated.
